Is that a communist plane?
I don't care much for RC planes but i love nitro racers. The speed on them is really unbelievable. The only thing that i could see getting me into RC planes is the hope of one day getting an RC Jet. I saw one of them at the last air show I went to and it was crazy. Personally I'd rather get an RC jet than my dad's l-29. Hundreds in gas for one hour of flying, no thanks.

It sure is red, anyway....

That's why electric is so nice! Charge the battery and away you go!

BHA! HA HA HA.
When i was 10 years old, what i did with my radio controlled cars, i would build a car myself and then install real (toy) rocket engines on that thing, then fire that thing up. I think it reached the speed of sound...

Just curious: how much weight can your plane lift?
It would be über-cool if you could rig a mobile phone to function like an onboard camera, yielding spectacular .avi movies of your RC arial acrobatics.

Yeah it could easily lift a small camera. Lots of guys do that, you can find videos around the net of such a thing.
I think most guys use small "security" cameras that send the video signal to a base station via radio.

If you're a tech wizard you can take a mobile phone, use the cam function for live footage and relay the plane's controls over the phone line, so that your RC plane's controls have a lil TFT screen (from the RC phone, its just dead weight there) that shows the view from the plane as if you're flying it, taking the distance limit off your RC gear.
Then at night men in black will thrash your house and homeland security will take the fun away.

Yeah wind is always an issue with model RC planes...but much less of an issue when you get into larger, more powerful models.
The ones I've been flying up until now are made entirely of foam, and don't have very strong motors or anything...so they are pretty much limited to under 12km/h (about 8mph I think). Anything over that and they just don't have the power to push through the wind - you can end up with the airplane flying "towards" you...but it'll still be moving backwards because of the wind. Or worse yet, a nice big gust comes along and smashes it into the ground
The one I crashed last night can easily take winds over 20km/h though. It definitely gets harder to fly in higher winds...but as long as the motor is strong enough and the control surfaces are large enough...no problems!

Yea, its a '68 Russian experimental fighter jet. Its actually really cool it has switches to drop bombs and also buttons on the joystick to fire missles and machine guns. In the 70s in checkoslavakia the guy who my dad bought the plane from was an jet mechanic who wanted to escape so when one of the jets was ready to take off he jumped in the back seat and held a gun to the pilot's head and got him to fly into western europe. He kept the plane and ended up in America eventually where he had to sell it for money years ago.

Did some nice snap-rolls, loops, and barrel rolls to show drtyfrnk how it flies.
Then I attempted one last barrel roll...and WHAM! into the ground. Looks like I'll need a new fuselage
Proposed solution: reinforced body, and some armor.
If you'd been flying a scale model of a Sturmovik, the ground would have been what wound up being damaged

True, but I'd probably still lose my gunner
