Beirute: before and after
    #5946828 - 08/09/06 09:11 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I wonder if the zionist state of Israel has ever suffered so much destruction in just a few days ... The display of military power is disproportionate, and it seems it will increase even more in the next days. What's their point now, even the pigeons and cockroaches (or what's left of those) are hezbollah militants as well ?

From what I heard, you complained about it, whined to some mods and I was told to change it. I'll PM them and ask if you can give them your concent, tell them that you aren't "offended" and I'll gladly put it back up. Shall I?

He didn't complain. I don't want to hear anything else about it in this thread, though.

Israel is being far more restrained in their use of force than they should be.

Yeah they should use nukes so the rest of the Arab world goes to war with them and then they can finally get wiped off the map for good. I don't think too many people would give a shit either, if they used a nuke then got destroyed afterwards I mean.

Oh really? The sad part is their is people in government and military exactly like you, Have you put any forethought into the effects of nuclear weapons on the atmosphere or EMPs through out the region. Nuclear Option is out of the question.

I have said this a million times over.....Innocent people die in war...thats why it is war.
Somehow people today find it shocking, that so much "collateral damage" takes place. The civilian casualties today are NOT EVEN close to past engagements, of lets say, Warsaw and Stalingrad.I know that the context of the wars are completely different, however, technology has made most munitions to be more strategically placed, vastly limiting the full effect of an indiscriminate war. If the media coverage was as efficient as it is today, you would not fucking believe the destruction and death, of past engagements ,compared to now

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I wasn't really being serious, however if they did use nukes, then they should be wiped off the map. On a side note, who gives a fuck about the environmental impact, there would be millions of dead people. The bombing of the energy structures put enough oil into the ocean to cover most of the coastline as it is, but you don't see that on the front page.

If a 500 bomb dropped by an F16 took out your wife, kids and elderly parents, I'm sure that you would be singing the same tune

I would make sure that my wife, kids, and parents would not be located next to a terrorist organization, being bombed by one of the worlds most powerful militaries.

Without a doubt, however proportionality should be used today in conflicts like this, Iraq is a very small country. Germany and Japan recieved millions of casualties,Their civilians were targetted so they would stop supporting their own respective governments, especially the firebombings of Dresden and Yokohoma. Itleast a half million people were killed in a few months of snake and nape'

Iraq is a bit different because we are trying to ressurect their government infrastructure (after destroying it) and the terrorists are trying to destroy the infrastructure. So its our tactics used against us. Assymetrical Operations.

My major beef with Iraq is their isnt a viable exit plan. This is where problems start happening, personally i think if the Military handled most of Iraq (They know what to do because their assses are on the line) Get the politicians like Rumsfeld from making military decisions.

...and what if your community was being bombarded indiscriminately with only a pretense of "targetted bombing" ala Israel?

or

what if relocated your family to a safe area and a supposed errant bomb killed your children and wife, would you simply chalk it up to collateral damage and not be bothered?
