anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for a multi-spore inoculation to start...

there are all sorts of factors that can effect them starting to colonize....

moisture content of the jars, viability of the spores, temp that the jars are colonizing in...
and other factors that I can't think of right now(its too early and I'm not awake yet!~) lolzz

I just did some B+ jars with BRF, Vermi and some honey and they colonized fully in 12 days at 84 degrees.

Fastest I have ever had them colonize though it usually takes 20-30 days with noticable growth after 3

Kick up the temperature about four or five degrees with an incubator.

i would give them another week. After that, double check to make sure you followed directions exactly and wonder if your spores were any good.

well if you say you are on a tight budget, and cannot afford a heating pad (you can find them pretty cheap) the only thing i can suggest to raise the temperature is to place the box on or near something such as a monitor, computer, TV, or receiver. all of these give off plenty of heat, but you need to be careful because temperatures comming from such devices can easily reach well over 100 degrees.

also be sure not to block any holes specifically designed to dissipate heat, as this can cause the unit to malfunction, and a short circuit/fire is the last thing you want right now.

good luck.

i'm sorry about that, i thought you meant a heating pad was too much money, i see that your concern was actually about too much heat. well you can always set up the pad under a box or tub, throw a reliable thermometer in there, and see what happens. if the temperatures seem reasonable, then go for it.

make sure you leave this going for a day or two before you make the decision to place the jars inside. this way you can see how the temps change over the course of a day/night.

someone just innocualted 12 pf jars with B+ spores that were sitting in the fridge for over 2 years as a goof on 8/5... funny thing is the jars are already riddled with white spots wheras 60 other jars inoculated with "new" spores are still fast asleep. I's so unpredictable.
