hygrometer, perfectly calibrated but still wrong?
    #594649 - 03/31/02 02:30 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

just re-calibrated my hygrometer using the method on the shroomery (put in an airtight container with dampened salt and it should read 75rH). it came out right at 75 so it should be accurate.

but when its in the grow chamber the highest it reads is 89rH even when there is condensation on all the walls and the trrays and a puddle is growing into a lake on the floor from my humidifier ... wouldnt that be a sign that there is 100rH and not just 89? help??

its the type used in a humidor. it goes all the way u to 100 rH on the dial (not digital) and even though it was cheap i think its good. it was the one anno posted a while back (like a week ago or two).

i have one cool mist humidifier. then i put in another one and it went up to maybe 92 rH with two humidifiers running. i dont get it.

it is 4'x4'x7' (thats feet) and the humidifier(s) are sitting inside the grow "tent". fresh air is funnellled in from an air filter. there are narrow slits on the back for air vents which are adjustable (the tops of ziplock bags are taped over each of the openings). i have two humidifiers both kaz coolmist.

anyway i think that my hygrometer just isnt accurate at higher temps and im not too concerned anymore...

try taking your humidifiers out of your terrarium, and attaching a hose from the humidifier output, to your terrarium...
what could be happening, is its putting out humid air, but then sucking it back in and the air is not able to be dispursed..
just a thought..
