sounds allright to me.. a little slow.. are you incubating at 80 - 85 degrees?

Shake em and incubate for another couple days.

How much gypsum did you add to the LC? Many growers forget this. It will speed up growth exponentially.

Gypsum is calcium/sulphate. Add a very small pinch.

You used too much karo. Use 2cc up to a maximum of 4cc for each 100cc of water. (2% to 4% by volume)

You also need to provide filtered air exchange.

If you're new to the hobby, you'll get mushrooms much sooner if you simply inject your spores to pf cakes, per the tek. The liquid culture adds a step and also adds an increased chance for contaminants. In my opinion, it's only an option if you want to grow large amounts.

Gypsum, eh?

I think RR makes a great point in regards to whether or not you would want to add the LC step in a first grow as it does add another point of potential failure.

However, I would argue it is definitely worthwhile to do an LC while you are incubating your batch, even if you don't intend on growing 'large amounts'.

At a bare minimum it can increase one's understanding of the germination stage, and is therefore a worthwhile exercise while you are continuing your research.

Just .02 from me. Peace
