which is a huge plus.. before we were kinda iffy on what was going to happen with us both leaving

this is what my plans are right now..
army reserves/ SAMP program.. like im going to go thru basic training in the next month or so.. then come back... instead of going to AIT and active duty.. im going to school for the next four years.. then ill serve after that
that will give me and the lady time to see if marriage is right for us.. and also let me work at a finance/ accounting degree.. the best of both worlds

just to let you know (so you and her are prepared) they are calling up reserves pretty steadily. but just make sure to talk to your reserve unit and see when the last time they deployed was, if it was recent your pretty good, if not then they might get called up pretty soon. unless of course you happen to get one of those lucky non deployable reserve units.

yeah thats what me and my recruiter are going to do.. pretty much give me some bullshit MOS to assure me that i dont get deployed.. because my first year of college i am deployable.. but after that.. starting my sophomore year, they cant deploy me for the remainder of college

nah man deploying for the reserves doesnt neccisarily mean ou go to iraq. it can mean that you have to get called to active status to fill a spot they are low on. and dont believe that shit that you cant get deployed unless you have it in writting, and i mean a piec eof paper that says the exact words "(name) can not be deployed after X time". they will lie they will lie they will lie (no matter how cool they seem).

nah my recruiter has been GREAT to me and my family.. like i actually trust him.. and yeah its part of the program.. they cant deploy you once you declare your major (which for some reason can not be done until the end of my freshmen year).. but hes going to do everything in his power to assure that i get what i need
i know there are tons of shisty recruiters out there, but hes not one of them... like my mom is helping him with his sons college papers and shit.. like its a good guy.. if anyone i know ever wants to go into the army.. ill def refer them to him

Dude. I didnt know you were going into the army. Fuck. I know your just out of high school, I went through all this shit when I was 17-18. I graduated HS a year early and went into the army. Shipped out when I was 17 to basic at Fort Jackson.
Listen, I dont care how nice/friendly/awesome you think your recruiter is. he is NOT. My recruiter told me so many things that were just FLAT OUT NOT TRUE. Your recruiter has NO incentive to tell you the truth. I went through the SAME THING. He came to my house, met my Mom, drove me to Chicago to MEPS, bought me lunch/dinner numerous times. He was a FUCKING SNAKE.
Nothing he told me was true. MOS was NOT guaranteed. AIT training locations were NOT guaranteed. Bonus money was NOT guaranteed. Literally 90% of the stuff he told me was just flat out not true. And once your in, you ARE fucked. Once your in orientation, and you realize that all the shit you have been told is bullshit, you have no recourse. Your training corporal will laugh at your ass when you tell him you got played.
Honestly, think about it dude. There are plenty of other ways to get money for college that dont involve fucking yourself over. I've seen you post here for like, a year now, and you seem like a decent enough, halfway intelligent guy. The Army is for stupid rednecks and first generation immigrants. There is no reason to subject yourself to that shit.
I had to pull some crazy shit to get myself out that deal, ended up getting out 2/3 of the way through basic.
All I'm going to say is that your recruiter is lying. You may think he's the coolest guy in the world. Thats why he's on recruitment duty, is because he's charming and can lie well. I know you wont take my advice, but I couldnt, in good concience, NOT tell you what I know.
