San Pedro in So Cal
    #5944131 - 08/08/06 01:12 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys. So a friend and I have been wanting to take mescaline for a while now, and now that he got off of summer school, now's a good time to do it. So since I live in So Cal, cacti aren't hard to come by. There's this huge nursery with some damn ancient cacti and a huge selection.

I haven't been there in ages (last I went was w/ my parents), so now I'm going back with only one item on my mind. I'm not sure if they label their cacti so that I can find ones that say either San Pedro or it's sci. name. In the off chance they don't, should I feel in the clear to just ask right out for San Pedro, or are they suspicious of people wanting to just know where the SP is?

And once I do find it, are there any tips you'd give on how to choose wisely and what a good price is?

I have 2 one-footer potted SPs, but I hear they're very good and I'd like to keep them growing before consuming any (they each have 7 ridges, which I hear is good as well).

I'm also going to extract and capsule the powder, so if anyone has any teks they prefer for extraction, I'd be grateful (I've really only read one or two).

I'd say go ahead and ask. The worst that could happen is they'll look at you funny. There are also websites that sell SP cuttings. I'm pretty sure at least a couple of them are Shroomery sponsors.

As long as the discussion doesn't fall onto sources discussion (get them at your nursery for sure, probably much cheaper there too) just read up on how to ID them, and memorize the characteristics of the photos. Worst case scenario, post pics for ID in the garden.

check out ecxtaza's tek in the O.D.D. forum, or some of the archived posts at the nook for mescaline extraction.

Surely cheaper at a nursery in Cali. If not, keep looking locally.

The cactii you are looking for are either

Trychocereus Pachanoi
or
Trychocereus Peruvianus

I've heard of stores in Cali having bridgesii on rare occaisions.

I'd skip the peruvianus due to a too highly frequent appearance of the kk242 variety. Same advice for internet shopping, folks.

Yea I live 1.5 hours North of Riverside (I have family there). That would be AMAZING if you could give me the directions, I would be eternally grateful! I'll PM you as well. Thanks so much for the offer.

I don't care how much that dude has: Stealing san pedro is *fucking wrong*.

Ask him, he has a ton, tell him you're going to grow it out, it will most likely be fine. If he says no, buy some elsewhere, or ask someone else, it's all over that area.

Actually we already debated this here. The cacti is growing along a greenbelt next to a public street outside of the fence of the homeowner. Technically it belongs to the city of Riverside, although the owner of the home probably thinks of it as 'his' cactus. I also think it would be best to ask the owner of the property if he minded you taking a cutting just to be polite. You can tell him you want to grow it in your landscaping if he's curious.

I am a legal courier that visits the Riverside area 1 to 2 times a week. I would love to know where that "monster" is. By the way my job has allowed me to reconnoiter most of southern California; I know of many San Pedro locations!
