OK i cooked up to much grain, couldn't find my bags so i had to use Jars. So i couldn't fit all the grain in one load. So then by the time i got to inoculating the jars from the first batch. The second batch i didn't get to autoclave started to spoil and ferment/mold over.
Now i would hate to let this grain go to waist. I don't mind chalking up a few jars in the name of science since they are already pretty much beat.
So my thoughts are that if i killed all the contam would it in theory acts like natural antibiotics for the substrate in some way? Would the mushrooms be OK growing on dead contam more so then just dead endospores? Is it a real waste of time?
Just some thoughts...... any ideas?

how come the second lot didn't get into the autoclave in time? was it ?
you could re-sterilise the goo, but if it's already fermenting with something, you better give it an extra bit of time. trouble is, once there's loads of bugs in there, you're already fighting an uphill battle - sterilising only kills 99.999999999% of the bugs, and if you have 100000000000 bugs to start with, one may slip through.
give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Couldn't find your bags. It's maybe time to do a clean up?

It would be a waste of time if your plans include succes with those jars. But if you want to experiment a bit and see how your sterilization process works with no good results in mind, go ahead. Personally, I would toss the grain cause it´s cheap and readily available. When moderate amounts of substrate/grain can´t fit inside my sterilizer, I cold storage the remaining stuff if it´s going to be used soon, if not I freeze it for prolonged storage and works good. I do this just with sawdust (not easy to find where I live) and organically grown grain (very expensive in my country).
Good luck.

Good suggestions on the cold/freeze storage! I will try that next time.
Yeah it was just foul cooking those things. Never again.
