Reishi - how to collect spores for cultivation?

These conks are about to start dropping spores and I would like to collect spores for FSP.

The problem is that I am not sure what is the best way to collect these. Any ideas?

it may not be the best way to collect spores, but this is how i did it. i used a large pizza pan under the fruits, and allowed the mushroom to sporalate all over it in about a months time i got a layer of spore about a quarter inch thick on a 14 inch diameter pizza pan. allot of spores. i would use agar to grow these spore due to possible contamination, but my main purpose in collecting the spores is to use them as medicine along with the fruits.

It's kind of hard to get a clean print with reishi. It's weird how the spores also migrate to the top of the conks. I just used a small, dry, paint brush to brush the spores off of the top of the conks. You can put some wax paper under them, too. I have a bunch of spores collected--just haven't done any agar work to germinate them yet.

I use wax paper, and change it out for a fresh piece twice per day. By doing this, the exposure time is less, therefore fewer contaminant spores are also collected. RR

If you're going to use pictures from a spam site like imageshack, please put that in your message. I clicked on your picture above thinking it would enlarge, and it placed 9 cookies on my computer, including four that were malicious spyware. That is uncalled for. You can post them here without spamming everybody. Thanks. RR

Thank you for the tips. I think I will try the wax paper.
RR: sorry about the image shack. I did not know it was a spam site. I will put a warning next time / find something else to post pictures.

They are an interesting color. More brown than red. They should be dropping spores anytime now, and will continue for up to a few weeks, so you get a lot of sporeprints.
Thanks owl. I noticed right away when they hit my machine. Didn't mean to sound so gruff, sorry. You can upload the pictures directly to the site here. Just reduce them to 200k or below. Thanks. RR

Sticking aluminum foil under the polypores works too.

I have been growing this strain for a few years now and the colour seems to vary between bright red to this orange-yellow / brownish colour.
I noticed a little bit of brown spores on the bottom of the fruiting chamber so it seems they have started.

Can't see anything here that would have caused it, maybe the posters link to imageshack was the problem?

We have Ganoderma lucidum sporeprints. They shoudn't be totally clear so you have clear the culture petri to petri. Check our website, thank you.

Aren't Reishi spores considered more healthy in tea than the mushroom body itself? Anyone got a reishi spore tea recipe? Boil as normal?

The sporeload of this species is massive and lots of spores collect on the top of the fruitbodies. I just boil the fruitbodies with a layer spores on top for two hours and use part of it fresh as tea and part for a tincture and part frozen for later use.
I believe the spores and fruitbodies contain different concentrations of compounds with medicinal properties (triterpenoids and polysacharrides).
The blocks are producing a second flush on the spots where the first conks were harvested.

Here are some pictures of the second flush. The fruitbodies are more orange coloured than the previous ones.

Why not you use the standard way of printing for those after harvesting?

Ganoderma drops spores for up to a month. By collecting spores as the conks grow/mature, you can literally get dozens of prints from a single conk. RR

Yes, I harvested 20 prints in 3,5 days afterwards I did not harvest the conks for a few days resulting in a thick layer of brown spores all over the fruiting chamber and outside.
