Oysters on Corn Cobs

I am interested in using corn cobs (sold as animal bedding) as a substrate for oyster production. What is the ratio of water to cob? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks. G

Perhaps you can just soak it and drain it really good, like straw. I have not seen any specific info on this, so you might need to experiment. Find out how much water is in the cob now by getting its weight before and after drying it in the oven. Then you can add water to a given percentage for a given amount of cob. For example, sawdust spawn should be at 60-70 percent moisture. My sawdust already has 3% moisture. I weigh out a given amount of sawdust in an autoclavable bag, get the weight (in grams), then I added additional water to 60-70 percent. You will need to experiment with how absorbtive the cob is.
