One would assume that common sense doesn't need to be made a rule.
-Common sense would dictate that someone doesn't create a thread on a public message board in which they admit to being part of a felony...then asking for advice.
-Common sense would also dictate that the same individual should be thanking me for covering his ass, despite the individuals mind boggingly oblivious attitude...not whining about it to anyone he thinks that may care, because his thread was moved to the dump.
You weren't banned...and only received a warning for your own good. Be a man and suck it up.

It sure would help if it were a prerequisite to promotion of position however.

Rono, this is a drug board. Plenty of posts are made detailing crimes commited. Almost every single "trip report" is an admission of guilt. Warning/banning people for such acts is irresponsible. You, nor any other moderator is here to hold people's hands through life. If someone wants to talk about an illegal activity, who are any of us to say otherwise?

Egotistical actions deserve thanks no more than questionable posts deserve replies.

Cultivation of mushrooms isn't illegal the world over.
If I had seen the post before Rono had seen it, I would have done the same for an entirely different reason. The user's intention wasn't to get advice, help or anything like that. It was to beat his chest and as a consquence of that was an invitation to a devolving discussion of his character and plenty of trolls. That being said, this forum isn't for appeals to disciplinary action sooooo.....
Back to the topic of this thread, I don't think the proposed change to the rules is being considered with any seriousness because it isn't needed. The forum rules aren't the issue, it's instances of users bumping into them that is.

i personally didnt commit a crime.. or atleast thats what i was TRYING to figure out...
i have no hard feelings towards you.. i was just in a shitty situation needing advice.. and it got dumped.. and i specifically made sure that i didnt violate any rules before i made the post
its all good man.. things got figured out.. and i do understand that you were looking out for my well-being

To Rono:
I mean.. this is my stance.. if you are that worried about it.. why is there a thread stickied saying "Yoschie in Jail. Help!".. i mean i dont personally know him.. and everyone is rallying around him to help make his bail for committing federal offenses/ felonies and what not
i guess i didnt see the problem with my thread if a moderator had already stickied that thread
i just needed some advice on what to do in my situation.

The difference is that Yoschie didn't commit a crime...and certainly didn't admit to anything on here.
It was JUST A WARNING that you got...chill out, it's not like you were banned....Quit being such a drama queen.

Since when did it become a 14 day ban (on a first offense, or at all for that matter) to tell somebody you think they're fucking crazy?
Thanks for any responses.

fireworks_god said: None of the moderators who have posted in this thread have addressed the original question - we seem to want to know how someone can just get a 14 day ban, when there is a point system that regulates the duration of a ban?
Anyone actually going to comment on this pertinent point, instead of simply saying "These are the rules, abide by them."?
 Peace.

All right, let us walk through this one. I've quoted pertinent replies that are actually addressing the topic at hand.
As we can see from the original post, the topic at hand is not a question of changing the rules of the forum.
The topic at hand is an inquiry into the manner in which the point system is implemented when the rules are broken - not a proposal for changing rules.
Apparently, mattzdope has received a ban that he does not believe is in accordance with the policies of the point system.
Now, we have had several moderators who have participated in this thread, but have not addressed the actual topic at hand at all. Why is that?
Will anyone review the specific circumstances of this situation, his banning, and suggest to us all why exactly a fourteen day ban was warranted?
After all, we are under the impression that there is a point system in place that is to ensure that bans are handled in an appropriate manner.
Did a moderator simply override the system and hand down a ban as they felt like it? Or was his first infraction given an insane amount of points?
So, can anyone field this one, or will we continue to discuss an issue that has already been declared to not be appropriate for this forum? Anyone?
I guess it is difficult to address the main topic at hand if you don't even know what it is.
 Peace.

For the record the ban was dropped to one day..
However I still don't understand how I was given a fourteen day ban in the first place with no previous points on my record. Isn't the "points system/ban-o-matic" supposed to regulate such things?

I have to agree with you as far as the length of ban went on that one.. you had no prior entries in the ban o matic. Also as blink said, your b-o-m file has been totally cleared and you have 0 points now.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah trendal had already told me he cleared the points. Still curious as to how the ban-o-matic works. Is 14 days even an option for somebody with 0 points?
