hydrating is simple..... but how do I properly drain? just like 30 or 40 min? until no water collects at the bottom of the jars? is it normal for the wbs to come out of the pc much darker than before?

Drain until there is no visable dripping. Then shake the birdseed around to make sure nothing has pooled up in the clump of wet seed. I do mine is a small strainer that can do around 1 quart at a time, maybe more. I let each batch drain on its own for about 5 minutes, then I shake it up/tilt it around to make sure all that water gets out.

time is slim when you just add more verm to the right moisture consistency. You just gotta make sure this isn't any more excess water when the myc has to colonize the jar.

Large capacity, small hole colander. Fill 3/4 full, rinse throughly. Shake, bang it once or twice, let drip drain a few minutes, stir, or shake - bang again, let it set a few minutes. DONE.
Works perfectly for me. Yes, PC'ed WBS/Grains most often are darker.
