Pictures from my job at a prominent Italian restaurant in Washington, D.C., I'd rather not say where, but the chef was on Iron Chef; anyway, these are all my plating ideas and at the time these pictures were taken, I did all the veggies and garnishes and most of the meats.
lamb,squab,diver scallops, octopus, rabbit
buon appetito!

Squab: $32 Rabbit: $31 Octopus:$17 Lamb:$34 Scallops:$18
A tasting menu with all these items would be around $120. so yes, you would want to finish all five plates. It's nice because you get to try a variety of food your not bored, instead of one hulking mass of cow fodder found at most other places.
and no it's not rou (I must have missed that episode I don't know who he is)

Nice food, but I would kill the chef if I was made to pay 120 for those plates. Slide me some before dinner bread and olive oil so I can atleast get half a stomache full!

He certainly is, the place has been open for 22 years. Guys, it's actually a lot of food. I forgot to mention that most people order a pasta course to sub for any of the courses (or a cheese course if you want). You're also paying for quality ingredients and my time and skill in preparing it. I should warn everyone, the restaurant life and business isn't easy. In fact it's very very very hard

I'm all about the scallops, rabbit, and lamb I don't think ive ever seen scallops that big.. they're huge!!!
The presentation on the lamb is amazing. What kind of greens are in the bed beneath it?
And finally, where the heck did you find that much meat on a rabbit? Are those backs? Unless of course you're serving german giants

Maybe I'll have to take a visit to DC some time and hit up the gourmet food... 120$ is a bit high but for a splurge I think it'd be worthwhile Toss in some baked alaska for dessert and I'm sold.

Actually all of those dishes are available a la carte. 120 dollars just buys you the entertainment of seeing the chef owner cook for you. If your ever in town, pm me and I'll definitely hook you up. The rabbit dish has two loins (that run down the back) and a loin flattened out like a schnitzel, breaded and fried (it's called milanese in Italian) The lamb is sitting on a bed of braised swiss chard with bits of diced pancetta and potato puree running parallel with that. Oh and yes I will post pics on a regular basis, if fact I even take pictures of things I cook at home for the fam. Thanks for all the praise!

they look very nice. I'm kind of baffled by alot of the techniques used in presentation.
While 9 out of 10 times i'd rather just get street food, it's nice to go out to a sheek restaurant every once in a while. Especially if you're taking out a girl. It makes 'em feel rich and stuff.
But I still do appreciate the art and craft that goes behind this, French style of cooking. I espeically like the lamb presentation.

hey soochi
i'd be really curious to see how you make home cooked dishes, like food you make for yourself and your family and friends.
if you could, maybe with some pictures and stuff, that would be awsome.
