Happy holidays! You may remember a post I made about strange yellowing at innoculation points instead of germination. Then something started to colonize. Now these jars are fully colonized (and the rest are just about finished). No primordia yet (that I can see) but I guess things are looking normal. WTF? Anybody have a clue? You can't see it from this picture but there is still some discoloration around where germination started. Not really bad looking. Sort of a very faint salmon or beige or bone color in the mycelia.

I add this to clarify how it looked prior to germination

wow - i didnt know they were maza - i wonder where you got your print. My maza had similar yellow stuff appearing over the mycelia in most of the jars. I chucked these and grew out the clean jars and ive never seen it sense, so assumed it was a nasty

I got 'em from (can I say?). I don't have yellow stuff on the mycelia though. It started after about 5-7 days after innoculation right at the innoculation points. It wasn't anything growing. It just looked like stains. The substrate looked like it had been dyed yellow. Then stuff started to grow AROUND that. It seemed like it didn't really want to grow IN the yellow-dyed substrate so it grew AROUND it at first. Then about 2 weeks after that it really took off. It seemed like it reconciled with whatever the yellow stuff was "cause it grew INSIDE the stains then. It was healthy looking rhizomorphs (strands and all). Now the mycelia looks normal, but I'm not seeing any primordia yet. I'm reeeeeally hoping they pull through! I'm not sure though.

My guess is that you had some sort of contamination in the spore solution or on the needle. When you injected the spores, the contamination followed. The growing conditions were almost, but not quite good enough for the contamination. It started growing, but either died quickly because some environmental factor was off, or the mycelium started to over take it.

I've had that one time. The mycelium managed to cover most of the jar but when I opened the jar to get rid of it the entire inside was covered with that stuff. I don't know what it is though.
