weird smell

hey.. i started my jars with brf a verm.. its been about a week now
i have this weird smell coming from the jars??
is this normal, i dont see and signs of mold or anything
so if anyone could help that would be great

You'll have to descrive the smell for us. It should smell grainy or mushroomery at the most. Anything sour is bad. You be the judge. I've had to wait 14 or more days for growth before so don't get inpatient.

well some jars have maybe a sour apple smell to it and some have a mush kinda smell.. I'm sorry if I'm not helping you out any
i'm new to this so i dotn really know whats good or bad
do you think I should just wait till i see growth and if i see some bad mold.. chuck it??

Vermiculite can have an odor. Wait a week or two, then get worried.

My Jars are sealed, and I wouldnt be able to smell them unless I lifted the lid on them. Unless your smelling it through the holes or something.
That sweet smell of fermenting wine is usually a contaminant. But as far as jars go I just inoculate them, Box them up, and maybe look at them 2 weeks later.
If I see green or any other bad colors then I toss them.
