anyone suffering from acid reflex? (daily heartburn?)

I got really sick in freshmen year of highschool.. and it triggered some sort of acid reflex. Well.. my doc prescribed prilosec. It shut down acid pumps.. But when I didn't take it my stomach would make extra acid to compensate for the lack of acid and fucking rape me.
After a few years of taking it.. my mom told me about apple cider vinegar. So I picked up some ORGANIC applecider vinegar. I stopped the meds.. . and of course I was in hell the next day. Started taking apple cider Vinegar when ever I felt it starting. NOW.. no joke here.. It fucking healed me within a week. (I took a table spoon about 3-4 times a day)
So moral of the story: If your taking something thats treating an acidic stomach.. try switching to organic apple cider vinegar for a week or so. It worked wonders for me!

Sounds good !, ive never heard of that before.
My mum used to suffer with it badly. We tried propping the top end of her bed up with some bricks but that didn't do anything apart from making her uncomfortable.
In the end we tried using bio yoghurt and that cleared it up within a week. Now we make our own, it's really easy to make, tasty too !
I get indigestion alot, especially if ive been binge drinking too much and too often. Do you think that applecider vinegar might help that ?, yoghurt doesn't really help me that much.

yogurt has the same concept. You get beneficial microorganism in the food. I would definitely try apple cider vinegar. If you like salt and vinegar chips.. you might not hate it that much.. but on any account, have a glass of water ready to wash it down. It can taste pretty strong. Just take it whenever you feel it coming on.

It's worth a try . It's funny how if you go to the docs with these kinda things you usually end up coming out with a prescription, when it's not even needed at all.
I wonder how adding extra acid to your stomach, helps decrease heartburn. Doesn't sound logical.

Yeah.. alot of medicine just treats the problem but does not heal it. Prilosec (not sure how to spell it) Shuts down acid pumps in the stomach. You need to be VERY regular with taking it every day. If you stop taking it, your stomach produces more acid then it normally would (due to low levels from the medicine) This is of course just the stuff I was taking.. not sure about other acid reflex meds.
I thought it was kinda scary that I found out about apple cider vinegar from my mom 2 years after starting on this medicine. I guess the lesson here is to READ UP on your own condition and always find out all the options. Its always good to avoid daily meds when possible.

Healthy diet, lots of heart-healthy foods (like fiber!) are great for heartburn. So is yogurt.
Medicines are BAD for preventing/curing/whatever heartburn.

I mentioned this to my mother who suffers from particularly bad acid-reflux and she said that she's tried it and it made things quite a bit worse.

I take 20mg of Omeprazole x2 a day for acid reflux. Maybe I'll try that someday soon. I've also heard that lemon juice does about the same thing.

I used to get every day indegestion, but weed cleared that right up for me! I remember being unable to sit in school and having to leave every 10mins to the bathroom. That went on for 4 years until I took my first hit. I still get it sometimes, but ive quit smoking for the most part. Although its not nearly as prevalent as it once was!
