Humidification for fruiting chambers and casings

Hi all,
I have some PF cakes that have finally shown pins but in disappointing volume. Perhaps there will be more, but in the mean time I've been thinking I'd have a hand at casing to get more shrooms and cut down on the wait time for pinning. I plan on innoculating another set of cakes. Have of them I will keep as cakes, this time with a dunk and roll after birthing. I'll use the rest for casing.
My initial inclination is to case them in a small aluminum pan, and use a larger tub as a fruiting chamber to place the pan in when ready. I am currently using Perlite in my PF Tek fruiting chamber and I think I may want to try a different method.
There is so much information on this board that I want to solicit some input on cool mist humidification. It seems that a set up with a modified Vicks/Kaz V400 or V420 gets a lot of play on this board. From what I've read it seems that this will provide the right level of humditiy as well as provide FAE. Am I interpreting this information correctly or is this set up not really apporpriate for a fruiting chamber size of say 20 gallons?
Your opinions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Also, if someone can easily provide some links to modification teks for the cool mist humidifiers I'd be grateful.
Thanks.

if your only doing a small aluminum pan, then why dont you just put the pan in the tub with perlite in the bottom and holes drilled in the sides filled with polyfil? people usually build self timed misting FC when they have a whole tub filled with substate and casing...but hey if you got the $$$ and the time then go for it btw...how many cakes are you making ?

Well, I do love to tinker. I'm using Perlite right now in my aquarium and it's kind of messy. Also, I think the humidity is actually starting to drop a bit after 12 days or so and I want it to stay constant. It's hard to tell though - it's been a real pain getting an accurate humiditiy reading in there. I'm going to see if I can resolve that today by finding a Taylor 1458 around here somewhere.
Planning on doing 10 cakes - 5 for casing and 5 for dunk and roll. I was actually thinking of putting them in the same tub.

Nice tek man. That is exactly what I was hoping to find. Thanks. The drugstore down the street has both the v400 and v420. Several questions for you:
For what reason did you want to use the v420 originally? If I picked up a v420, would the same principles apply modification wise? I'd have to adapt the top blue piece right?
Are these models relatively quiet?

Originally I was going with a V420 because that's what was recommended to me. It appears that any Vicks V-model is highly suggested on here. Basically anything built by Kaz Industries, being that they were the first to build the electronic humidifier back in the early 1900's.
The same modification concept applies, yes. Block the original exhaust port, and make your own.
Either the V400 or V420 will work.
As for quietness. They are quiet originally, but once you funnel the mist and air through a smaller diameter opening it becomes louder. That's what boxes and sound deadening foam are for though. (:
I'm working on making a more soundproof container right now. Not tot imply it is extremely loud. But I like things quiet around me, I hate noise. (:
