Straw as a spawn

I am almost done colonizing a tub of straw. Would it be possible/smart to break up this colonized straw and layer it in new tubs with other pasturized straw? Could this process be reapeated for a continuous growth tek? Thoughts?

P.s. is grain spawn just a lot better idea?
