grains sprouting!?

Ok,ive got fresh, organic grain from FP.The grains look great, are totally dry. I brought a pot to a boil, added the grain-bringing it back to a boil for 10 min.I then shut it off and was going to let it soak for a few hours, when i noticed that at least 1/2 of the grains sprouted during the boiling process.I know you are supposed to shorten the soak time in hot weather, but i havent even let it soak yet. I fear that even if i start over and put dry grain directly into the qt. jars, add water and put them straight into the PC that the same thing will happen. This is my 1st time preparing my own grain, but not my 1st time growing. Is it ok to continue with the 1/2 sprouted grain? I would have thought the boiling would have inhibited this. I'm wide open for suggestions. Please help.

Grains DO NOT "sprout" when being boiled. They tend to "burst open". Which is not a good thing.
Try soaking for 24/36 hours. Rinse well, allow them to drip dry, until no water drips out. Then, jar up, and PC.

There is a significant amount of burst kernels, but there is a large amount (50% of grains) w/ 1/8" yellow/green sprout emerging from the germ pore. Gooms arent the only thing i grow hehe. But i appreciate your advice and will try it your way. The Homesteads ive used before this certainly dont look like this, nor do any pictures in any book or post ive seen. Thanks alot!

It gives some good insight in grain hydration.

The problem is you put the dry grains into boiling water. This caused them to take in moisture faster than they were able to expand without bursting.
If you want to soak your grains, rinse them well in warm tap water to remove the dirt, dust and chaff that make them clump up later if not rinsed away. After rinsing, allow them to soak for a few hours in warm water, or even up to 36 hours, but long soak times are not necessary.
Once the grains have soaked and softened, you can then bring them to a boil without ruining them. Boil until the kernels have doubled in size from what they were when removed from the bag, then drain well until the outside of the kernels are dry. Load into jars and PC for 90 minutes at 15 PSI. RR
