My "Other" Shrooms

Here are some of my "other" shrooms - just to share:

-------------------- Look at the atoms in the air and allow your mind to see the other planes that coexists in the same physical space where you sit. There are vibrational strings in each and every atom containing infinite realities, universes, and dimensions. Multidimensional beings and entities are RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!! Only gravity and mental energy can pass through these different atomic branes and mushrooms can break the mental/spiritual membranes separating one reality from the other. TAKE A LOOK!

Very nice. It's weird that the perc is hosting in mushrooms. They're usually very picky about a host; only go for carpet, magnifica(ritteri), or sebae anemones.
You've got some nice coraline going in that tank. How old is it? What are lighting specs? Filtration(skimmer)? Size? Do you have any LPS corals in there or just softies?

That is really sacry Gumby - I would never eat one because of 1) common sense, and 2) they sting too.
The tank is 70 gallons w/ 2-175w MH and 2-96w PC lighting. It's Bare Bottom, live rock filtration, sump, skimmer, chemical reactor (for power phos). It's about 3 to 4 years old, nicely aged.
One section of the tank is dedicated to softies (like the mushrooms and zoos) with a Rose Bubble Tip Anemone (I don't reall care if the anemone stings softies, but LPSs, SPSs and clams would be a different story).

The anemone is in the middle of the shrooms and although he wandered once, I was able to put him back. I got the anemone for the clown because the clown was killing a Flower Pot Coral I had. The clown is tank raised and those mushrooms have been his home long before any other corals were added.
Frankly, the clown is lazy and chooses the mushrooms because he can lie down and nap. I've never seen a fish, even other clowns, who can lie still for hours and sleep that deeply. The anemone is in a postion at night where the clown would need to swim to sleep (which they do). Oddly, the clown still feeds the anemone and takes care of it (they are right next to his mushrooms bed) and he is more agressive about defending the anemone verses the shrooms.
The other side of the tank features a clam...

and mostly LPS (large polyp stonies)

There are others, but I don't have them loaded into the gallery.
There is space dedicated to SPS corals (small polyp stonies), but I still have nitrate issues to fix before I go there yet (although part of me just wants to buy them, the patient part of me knows better).
But believe me, looking at the tank while tripping is a must do!

One of my favorite things to do while tripping is stare at my planted tank, so I understand completely,
You're at almost 8wpg, christ. You can grow any coral you want with that kind of lighting. Do you have any Acros in there?
As far as the nitrate problem goes, have you considered putting a refugium on the system? You could probably plumb it into the sump(assuming you have one) and use some cheap PCs for a light source.
Put any of the Caulerpa species of macroalgae in there and they will suck the NO3/PO4/SiO2 right out of the water. C. taxifolia works best, but it has been outlawed in most places. C. prolifera is a great alternative. I have access to a few diffeerent species of Caulerpa if you need some.
For the LPS/SPS corals, have you considered a calcium reactor? They help big time. You just have to keep a pH probe on the tank to make sure it doesn't drop too low.
On a random note, when I was at work I decided to test out the toxicity of Zoos. I put a tiny dab of slime from some random zoos we got from Indonesia on my tongue. My whole mouth went numb. Zoanthid toxicity is very real. Never eat your Zoos

You're right about that! That thing is the size of a bloody hydrocarbon chain.
By the way, some of those look a hell of a lot like coral, and coral are animal, not fungal... I'm not an expert here, can someone explain?

They are "coral", although I don't think sofies are considered coral.
They are animals w/ algae living inside there cells - they collect light, the algae creates sugar, and the animal eats that. Light is their main food scource.
My nitrate problems are mainly husbandry related, although I have tried a refug, it didn't dent the nitrates for me, but I'm open to trying again. I also have need target feeding some of my corals and that also spiked my nitrate. My main plan to control nitrate is limit feeding and water changes.
But, it might be time to try another refug.
A plant freashwater tank - very very cool - I had know idea fresh water could be as complex as salt (but CO2 suff brings it right up there with official tank nerd status). My favorite fresh water tanks are planted ones.

Right now I dose calcium and alkilinity - I do plan on a 500 gallon when my cash flow is a little higher, that's when I'll go the the calcium reactor. Cal reactors are 50/50 with a tank my size, not really needed IMHO

That 500 gal tank is going to be costly as fuck. If it weren't for the rock, it'd be no big deal.
Be weary of Aquamedic products. The european market stuff is awesome the US market products tend to be absolute shit.
I've posted the pics here before, but here's some older pics of my 125gal planted tank:
Tank looks quite different now that I have some new T5 blubs. I'll get some new pics once I get my cam repaired and my CO2 tank refilled.
