MY TATTOO NEEDS HELP!!!
    #5932246 - 08/04/06 05:53 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

okay, i got this tattoo when i was 18 and anxious to get some ink.  i dont regret it, but its a little boring and bland. so i want to make it a part of a large work of art that will eventually cover my back/shoulders.

i need some ideas on how i can incorporate this little monster into a bigger piece of art.  perhaps some lovely artistic shroomerite would like to draw their ideas onto it and repost?  that would be super sweet.  i know its kinda of hard to do without any ideas of what to draw, just go with whatever you think would look awesome i guess.
i am sort of hippy so no skulls or weapons or anything in that subject area.

my tattoo needs help!

thanks guys

update:

heres what i got in photoshop so far, any inputs?

hmm, i will try to cook some stuff up for you, i'll get back to you in a while.

i agree, it's a little bland as of now, but holds room for potential. does that symbol mean anything in particular?

i like circular patterns, the idea of infinity, and the associated trippy artwork, i also wanted to put some more colors into it. blue signifying the cool outer limits, and the warmer colors in the middle signifiying the centricity as a symbol. but do you think its going to be risky getting a tat full of circles? i mean how hard is it for a decent tattoo artist to draw a 'near' perfect circle?

get some big meaningful sanskrit scripture written all down your back under it... or some asian scripture.. I like tattoos that mean something as opposed to people just picking something for the sake of increasing their tattoos cause it's cool... I know how many 18 yo with a couple dumb tattoos cause it's "cool"

Whatever you do ... take your time.

One thing I never see is some cool geometric .. fractal.. illusion type stuff.... that would be cool

I can never decide ... so I just don't get any... someday I'll get a tattoo over my juvinile pen and knife stuff. Whos got ghetto ink? "lets just cut that shit in"

Kids don't give yourself tattoos! and if you don't believe me .... at least don't put a girls name on yourself... unless she'll still be hot in 20 years and you think it will impress her at your high school reunion ...

I like what you did. Its different.

If your worried about the tattoo artist... you could just get the transfer paper and draw it yourself. Or make it on the computer and trace it....

a good artist can draw great circles but perfect ones in my opinion should be drawn with a tool if not trained in perfection which most arent.

You can always tell them No after you see it drawn out. You might not want to go there again though..... you might get a snickers bar tattood on ya.

"watching my back type of idea"

that just made me think "eyeballs" ... I'm not suggesting it on yours but a huge cluster of eyeballs would be cool... like a huge compound eye

draw some more stuff up... you have good ideas

aren't all tat's just for the sake of cool? or, on their best day, a catalyst for conversation...?

I think its funny how you talk about how much tat's for the sake of "cool" suck but then go on about how geometric shapes and fractals look "cool".

How about just getting the tattoo removed? a scar is usually much more defining and "cooler" than a tattoo, and I imagine the story relating how much pain the removal caused would be much more "cool" than the modest dismissal to show how tough you are regarding the getting of the tattoo.

I always find it funny how so many people with tattoo's are so quick to defend their tattoo by claiming it has some deeply profound meaning, yet atleast once a week i see a thread on here asking help on ideas about their tattoo.
Why not just rent your body space for permanent advertising, it would atleast be more honest.

the artist's drawing is not what gives it meaning. you give it meaning. so by asking for help, im looking for some inspiring ideas. im going to take whatever advice i get and work with it to make my own pretty much. dont need the tattoo lectures in this thread guys, please. just read the first post if you're confused as to what this thread is supposed to be about.

btw.. its been almost 5 years since i got that tattoo and ive matured a ton since then. i didnt see it so much as artwork back then, more like an accessory. but i really want some great ART on me now... its already got its meaning, and i want to make it a beautiful thing to look at now.

tattoos are expressing a persons self whatever that maybe.... uh kind of like your post... you just tattood this page ... your guilty of everything you just whined about . so in your philosophy you should remove your post so you'll be cooler

I think it's a pretty bad idea to go on a website and ask random people to try and come up with ideas for stuff that will be permanent on YOUR body. I mean, if you don't know what you want, don't get one. I understand that you're trying to do a cover-up, but maybe you should try and come up with your own ideas? You also say that you got the last tattoo about 5 years ago, and you've "matured a lot since then." But don't you think in 5 more years you'll have matured even more?

I think maybe you should just get the one you have removed.

why don't you show the original first so people could work from there.

the circle thing is pretty cool, but I don't really like the blue 'butterfly wings' surrounding it

that's also something to consider if you actually really don't want a tat

Often times, yes, it does. Smaller tats, not so much.

I'm not trying to lecture you kake, but....

This is something you really need to take your time on, you are obviously displeased with the one you got 5yrs ago....rushing into it is going to leave you feeling the same 5yrs from now.

This is something you should really talk to a tat artist about, not ppl on a website. You would be amazed at how they can fix old shitty tats, or even cover up old shitty tats with new tats. They can also give you great ideas for a new tat....any idea you have...trust me, they've seen it and can draw it up for you.

As far as people getting tats just to show they are cool or have a monster cock...that's not always the case....I can see how people think that because, often times, it's true.

For some people, like myself, I get them because they mean something to me. I put in a lot of time b4 getting it done, and I don't go around shirtless to show it off. I can see where you are coming from...people who give made up stories to cover up the fact they got a shitty tat etc, or walk around with rolled up sleeves. People like that piss me off as well.

for example (friend of mine):

"My unicorn tat symbolizes the dreams we all have"

Translation:

"I was fuckn' wasted at the bar last night and walked into a tat parlor on my way home"

True story....guy has the outline of a fuckn' unicorn on his arm now for life.

anyway...kake, go to a local parlor and talk to them first, you may change your mind in adding a whole new tat and just fixing up the old one. This site is not a good place to get ideas....your ideas have to come from you, not others.
