I don't know much about this so.. I drew a picture.. its just an idea.. let me know whats wrong with it..

i was just wondering if you could use a modified pressure cooker to extract plants using Co2 gas.

how...? i'm not sure... I'm don't know much about using C02, but even if it didn't extract the alkaloids I want maybe it could clean off some of the others I don't want?
I was also thinking of using a distillation retort and alcohol in the same manner as that picture... and just let the alcohol vapor recondense in the plant chamber.

I wish I could afford that.

I'm no expert on extractions or C02 so I don't know if your idea will work but even if it does aren't there health hazards associated with eating dry ice or things that've been effectively marinaded in dry ice?

ummm...low pressure cold extraction involves chilling CO2 to between 35-55 degrees F and pumping it through the plant material at between 800-1,500 psi. Supercritical Fluid extraction involves heating the CO2 to above 87F and pumping it above 1,100 psi. Usually this work is done between 6,000-10,000 psi.
My All-American gauge goes up to 30 psi, so if you use yours, make sure you're under a kevlar blanket.

yeah, supercritical fluid extraction also involves LIQUID CO2, very not fun to play with. id say go with a butane extraction if you want to play that game, and That aint safe either!

what about alcohol vapor.. using a distilation retort to pass vapor through the plant matter?

if you're trying to dissolve a solid into a vapor passing over it, it's not going to be very efficient if it works at all. Your best bet is a liquid solvent. When doing a butane extraction, to make honey oil for example, the butane is in liquid form. It boils at 32F, so once the cold, expanding gas cool the vessel to that temperqature, the liquid stays in there and dissolves the goodies. HTH...
