This country is so money driven, any company on any given day would gladly destroy an acre of rain forest for an extra 100 dollars a week.
They'd gladly have me die if it meant that their CEO would be able to get a new private jet at the end of the year.

I used to use the old slogan "I love my country, but fear my government." But then I realized I don't much care for the dumbass rednecks that comprise most of this country either. I guess the two things I like about this country are its natural beauty(which is slowly but surely fading) and the spirit in which our system of government was founded(but certainly not the monster that it's become).

Agreed. Im a very outdoor and nature intuned person, everytime i go out and see all this development and this destroying of the natural habitats. Soon or later everything is going to turn into concrete, walmarts, cookie cutter neighborhoods, and golf fields.

Uhhh.... I thought most European countries have extremely strict immigration laws when compared to USA's so wouldn't it be extremely hard to live in those countries or at least become their citizen.

I do love this country, no matter how infuriated I get with how dicked up this supposed "representative democracy" we live in deteriorates. I look at the executive, legislative, and judicial branches and wonder if they even represent America........
But I still have faith that each day an American is born with new thoughts.....new ideas......to keep things moving forward for the motherland

Great post!
I am from Canada, but I see the problems our friends to the south are encountering. You have alienated yourselves from a large part of the world, I have memories of a clueless G.W. pulling on the Chinese presidents suit. Your irrational position in the middle east. I could go on.
Those rednecks you speak of are the back-bone of your country IMO. Its the mindless yuppies and politicians that are destroying your way of life.
I agree, America was founded on a great concept of ideals almost all around(current slavery legislation(1776) was deplorable, though they did abolish it, while it still goes on today.) There were other problems with your original plan of course, but they were fairly small. So America was a pretty good country in my books, you have just been hi-jacked by the elite. Which the same could be said for most, if not all western countries.
We live in interesting times, the world is due for an unprecedented change.

Have fun trying to pursue that... goal, reversing the stupidity of the American public that is. I personally would rather dish out my money for college, make my money, then leave.
Quote:

Exactly true. These rednecks do not want change, have close-minded views, and quite frankly... are about as smart as my computer.
Some other countries ? Well currently I don't have a definite answer on that, but there are many other countries that I hope to eventually visit and possibly re-locate to. NZ ? Mexico ?!
Someone else mentioned this as well, the fact that you can't just go move to another country, why the hell would some other thriving country want a typical stupid fuck American coming to their country ? Many Americans have the misconseption that you can just pick up and move to any country they want. You actually have to apply for residency in other countries, similar concept as to getting a green card in the states. If you don't have anything to offer, don't get your hopes up.
This is why an education is important, a country will most likely welcome a well-educated human being that can provide a contribution to society.

why do you love your country...why do you hate it?
let's get past this way of thinking.
and to those that think America is the best place on earth to live, you're so wrong.
Australia (while it has many faults) is way better, and there's way better places than Australia. get out a little bit.
i understand the original poster's thinking, but just stating this doesn't really do much (unless you were just venting)..
why not educate yourself (if you already haven't) on WHY the economy is so big; WHY and HOW America came into power; and HOW are they connected to everything else. What influences do they have on countries, say for instance in Africa.
look at the global system as well. look at the IMF and World Bank, and check out its roots. WHO started them, and what kind of people were they? What have they done since that has economically impacted the world at large?
There's more to things than just America, and there's more countries fucking shit up than America. I would venture out to say that business and religion has just as much influence on politics as governments.
if you're interested, I can let you know of some journals (peer reviewed) and other authors/writers who are very balanced and informative.
if you educate yourself thoroughly, then you can go about changing it. And as you do educate yourself, you WILL see that you CAN change it. don't let people tell you otherwise, the defeatist attitude is what those in power want most (IE a powerless attitude).
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

As I understand it, Canadians don't pay that much more in taxes than Americans do. They just spend more on social services and less on military. Oh, and plenty of Canadians own firearms.

Yea, and if one of them uses a pistol for home defense, they get charged with a crime. Sounds like a lovely nation. I say we take over Canada, much more oil than in the mid-East and a much easier battle.

*shrug* Maybe I'm wrong. However, if they have the same taxes, but a pathetic military and all sorts of bullshit social programs, then it's what I would consider theft, and charity at the barrel of a gun.

Of course they should. However, it's rather difficult to have a fund-raiser for the military. A tele-thon might not work. Also, the military does have to have secrets, so they couldn't well have a mail-in donation drive or a bake sale for their new top-secret weaponry.

If it's as necessary as you say, then it should be at least as easy as it is for charities to do the same.

All the donations to the 700 club or any CBN should go to military funds......

What's so hard to understand? If military is so necessary, then you shouldn't have a problem convincing people to give money to it voluntarily.

Hey, our military mainly serves big business anyway. Let them fork over the money directly rather than have us all pay for it.

And we don't. You can give money voluntarily, or you can leave
People paying money for the military are doing so voluntarily. Defense of soverignity, among other things, are critical for the existance of a country. And, of course, you can't "opt out" of being protected by the military. If one dirtbag America-hater doesn't want to pay for military protection, we can't very well single him, or them, out and let our enemies know that they aren't protected.
