I Want to brew my own beer and i'm wondering how much it will all cost me. Can you get some good tasting beer if you know what you are doing? It seems like quite a fun hobby. I guess it works out cheaper in the long run brewing your own good qaulity beer?

You would need a brewing bin and some bottles. I'm not sure how much they cost, but if you go to a carboot sale you'll probably find all the kit you need for cheap.
The actual beer kits cost about a fiver for 40 pints at the bottom end. Get one that's more expensive though, it'll be worth it when you come to drink the stuff.

I never understood one thing about those kits. Dont you have to transfer your product to a keg to maintain freshness?

you can bottle or keg it
I use soda kegs (5US gal) because I dont want to wait the extra 10-14 days for secondary formation to create carbonation after bottling..
and after awhile exploding bottles, cleaning etc just suck ass

Nar, you just throw your beer kit in the fermenting bin, add water and sugar then ferment. Once it's finished you leave it to clear in the bin then bottle it up.
To make it fizzy you put something like a half/full tea spoon of sugar into the bottles, fill them and cap em. Leave for a week or two then drink.
It's been years since i made any.

Just use a $25 brewing kit, 5-gallon water bottle, and 2-liter pop bottles. It's not worth getting the equipment until you decide you like homemade beer and also making the stuff.

I made a few gallons of beer a year ago, but i don't know how it taste. I gave most of it away, and then drank all I had left after too much vodka, couldn't taste it, but it did the job.
