Here is a strange one for you.

The Fiery Furnaces.. Which is actually a pretty good band imo. Their last album though was quite strange. Bitter Tea.

I like it. Not all the time, but I definately like it. It's similar in spirit to some SunRa and Zorn material I have. It also reminded me of a disc I hadn't listened to in a while.

Surrender To The Air: Marshall Allen, Trey Anastasio, Kofi Burbridge, Oteil Burbridge, Damon R. Choice, Jon Fishman, Bob Gullotti, James Harvey, John Medeski, Michael Ray, Marc Ribot.

The disc was recorded during a weekend recording in someone's home or apartment or something where a lot of musicians came and went. So people would wander in, sit in and play, wander off. I don't have samples to upload (lost the disc) but these links go directly to streams of samples:

Aspects of this song are rather bizarre, not too common, anyways. Especially the chorus, ya'll gotta at least listen to the chorus. I don't think that stuff has been around since the Wild West. Just wait for the piano...

I've heard Swallow The Sun and it's wicked. I've been told to listend to Vintersorg.

EDIT: Obligatory Scatman John.

I'm having trouble finding a downloadable version of
4'33" by John Cage

but you don't need to DL to hear it... it's 4min and 33sec of silence. It's played live on stage and is even written on sheet music.

This one is my favourite. It slowly builds up before finally exploding. I hid this one on my friends iPod (I labelled them as "Untitled" and the artist as one of his favs). And yes, he found it

Moving on to Coil. This first "song" is pretty odd. You might want to turn it up a bit louder.

More Coil. This is their older stuff, which is a lot more harsh. Kinda like being fucked in the brain with a sharp object.
