Mushroom 1

location - central Pennsylvania, forest edge, leaf litter spore print - creamy white cap - whiteish, slight brown staining, small warty growths stem - white, with very light tan tinge, 'skirt' white, stem flesh is sturdy scent - I don't recall the scent. I forgot to sniff! gills - white, very light staining on the rim (see pic)
The way this mushroom was poised, it seemed so elegant! It jutted almost arrogantly from the forest floor right at the edge of my grandparents field. It nearly begged for an ID!
Mushroom 2 - most details similar to mushroom 1.
same habitat, location (only yards away) appeared in larger numbers than mushroom 1 stem similar to mushroom 1, but whiter in coloration (no stain) spore print was white gills white, attached, cap smooth, soft, creamy brown (different than mushroom 1)

Mushroom 3
Now, I've read about a mushroom that has a firey bite to it, and I'm not nearly brave enough to even attempt trying. But I wanted to see if this mushroom was that particular kind, and here's why:
During this particular hunt, this mushroom was the first that I found. I noticed that, whether by coincidence or by the mushrooms power, that when I rubbed the sweat from my face around my eye, there was an intense burning sensation!!
I'm wondering if this mushroom is edible:
location, same spore print - there was no distinguishable print gills and cap were white, gills very close together, tight overall, a very hard bodied mushroom scent was pretty typical stem was short, thick, appeared to be some hollowness to it

not all the specimens collected of this mushroom 3 were of "typical" mushroom shape, as seen. Some were shaped like a 'scoop', starting to cup upward partially. I also noticed small peppery flecks of rust coloration on the skin of most of the specimens.
_______
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a couple (what you would consider) essential mushroom books, That means field guides, informative, biological, or even any good cook books for wild mushrooms.

The first two are Amanita I would say. ToxicMan is probably your best bet for an ID on those two. The last picture I am thinking Clitocybe. I really should start to remember some about these genera. Nice finds.

Nice photos and descriptions.
The first two are Amanitas. There are, unfortunately, a lot of white capped Amanita species. Even many of the species we think of as having colored caps have a variety alba. A good site to read up on Amanitas is Dr Tulloss' site.
The last one suggests a Clitocybe, although Lactarius is also a possibility. Try snapping the stem in two and see if it's fibrous. There are several Lactarius (and Russula) species that are very peppery to taste.
Happy mushrooming!
