I have a chronic liver disease and was wondering if anyone know what effects shrooms have on the liver before I take them.

When you ingest shrooms you only absorb approx 20 to 50 mg (miligrams) of the active substance in the shrooms, so I would say you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Mushrooms (even magic ones) are very good for you. I think shrooming once a fortnight is alot healthier than drinking..... Peace and shroom on bro. Mr.Jingles

Shrooms are probably a lot easier on the liver than alcohol and most other drugs are, but I don't think that it is correct to say that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. A lot depends on the nature of your of your liver condition and how serious it is. This is the kind of thing one should definitely check with a physician, but of course how can you discuss this kind of matter with most physicians? One (very famous) doctor I know of, Dr. Andrew Weil, is an admitted mycophile and he would probably know the answer to your question. I think he has a website--you might look for it on one of the search engines. I think on that site he has an "Ask Dr. Weil" section where you can send him anonymous questions. He doesn't answer all of them (I'm sure he gets hundreds) but he just might take an interest in your case and give you the best advice. From my reading and limited understanding of these things, I would say that if your condition is mild and your doctor allows you to have a drink of alcohol every now and then, you should be fine. If your condition is more serious and you cannot drink alcohol and have to be wary of various medicines, you should probably not risk it with the mushrooms. And if you do take the shrooms, be absolutely certain that they are 100% natural (not laced with anything, as sometimes happens with those bought from dealers) and that there are no contaminants. Good luck.
