Web Neutrality

So I come home from hanging out at a co-workers house and my dad is half way plastered and starts crying to me about web neutrality? He was saying shit like yahoo and Google have faster connections than us and we're never going to be able to have it. I think hes right on, and I don't give a shit. The reason they have fast Internet is because the spent they time and money it requires to get fiber optic networks and fast connections so that they can handle the massive amount of traffic there sites handle. I don't care if I have to wait three seconds for a page to reveal its complete glory to me because I'm going to be on that page for at least like five minuets looking around. I don't care if it takes me 15 minuets to download an album, that's the only price I pay! If I spent enough time looking around on line I could probably get the required software to make a professional looking game, for any council I want without spending a penny. Because that's what computers are for, creating media. You don't need a fast Internet connection to do that, it may take a few days to track down and obtain free full versions of the software you'd need but its going to take you years to create anything worth while. People these days want too much. I mean you should always want more but you should be grateful for what you already have before that.

Web Neutrality is one of the issues I'm not really up to speed on...
All I can say is that as the technology progresses, EVERYONE will benefit...
I mean, I started using the internet about 11-1/2 years ago, and I remember logging on through dialup using via a 14.4 modem... then everyone ended up with a 33.6, then it was 56k, then I had cable, and now I share a T3 with the others in my building...

wtf? you kidding me?
so based on a purported drunken rant, you make this very one-sided stand against the topic?
i think you should research it a bit more. its not just having to wait an extra second. its about control. its bad enough with these giant search engines filtering their content in countries like China.
the question is, do you really want someone or something to limit your access to the internet to serve its own agenda? HELL FUCKING NO.
this is a HUGE issue and needs people to get informed and speak to their representatives to prevent it from happening.
web neutrality = a very very very good thing

I've read plenty of slashdot posts concerning censorship, but I haven't kept up on my tech news lately...
Any good recommendations for articles concerning Net Neutrality?
