I kind of want to have kids

I was thinking about what i would pass down to a kid, a son, a daughter if i ever had one. just playing around with the thought in my head, and i have to say that it felt pretty good.
untill recently i have always said that i was on the no kids band-wagon.
but lately i have had some contradictory feelings. the other day i was thinking that if i wanted to have kids, my "prime" years are almost up... and perhaps i might be missing an oportunity.
I suppose that the whole conversation is moot unless i somehow find a woman in life that i can love. but i hate to say it, but with half of all mariages ending in a divorce, and im sure that the remaining married ones arent that happy..... how do you ever know if you have found someone that you can truly spend your life with?
I rant alot about the traditional life not being for me, and not being for most people. by traditional life i mean highschool, college, job mairage kids retirement death. as it dosent work for alot of people im somewhat fearful of it, especially of its main failing component, mairage.
oh well, im going out to the bar to contemplate further, lol.

The world is far too overpopulated already without my help. All these people out there try to do thier part by conserving and recycling, but then they have a few kids and contribute more to the earths problems then I ever could. I chose years ago not to have kids and I will miss out on many things as I grow old childless. But its my way of doing my part to help out in an overpopulated, fucked up world.

I think im a bit younger then you , but I know how you feel, but the older I seem to get the more I seen to lean towards a slow, and peaceful family life instead of living in the fast lane. Best of luck to you in figureing out what you want to do.

I find it an interesting paradox that the people smart enough to realize that they shouldn't have kids are the ones who probobly should have them, and that the people who are ignorant of the consequences of kids are generally the ones who have them.

Zippoz, have you considered adopting a son or a daughter? There's so many out there who could use the love you could give.
I never ever (ever) intend on bearing any children of my own, but I am all about adopting one when I am older and more mature. I think it's the best option for my husband and I. (when my dreams of vandalizing the neighborhood police station have all but ended. )

i have conssiered adoption, but i have to admit that some of the desire to have a son or daughter comes from my desire to pass on what i believe, what i know, what truly is.
perhaps the problem in our world is people like me passing on values that i feel are correct.
what if i was to pass on beliefs that werent right, what if i was to pass on a son or daughter that were a detriment to the human condition. what if i am that detriment, and cannot do anything but pass it on/??

It's because you ask those questions that shows you will make a good father. It's people who don't care to have a child and one day find themselves in line that often aren't suited.
EllemyshShade, I find your consideration for children in need really inspiring, but can honestly say I can't imagine adopting. I've only just turned 19 and yet have already cherished the thought for a while of one day (by no means soon, late 20's is good for me) having a child of my own. One that I will love endlessly and will love me back. But there's something missing, something that I can't picture with having an adopted child. I don't feel bad for feeling that way because I know there are amazing people like yourself that feel the opposite way, but I can't see myself having a child that didn't come from myself.

i'm defintely not going to have kids until i've accomplished everything i want to do, so probably never or maybe i'll adopt when i'm like 50.
if i have kids i'm going to be so harsh on them its going to be insane though. its mean to a kid to give them a normal childhood i think. up until they hit like puberty they are going to be some yogi zen monk fucking kids.

I want kids too. Fuck this bullshit about overpopulation. We have the technology and information necessary to sustain the world's population easily. It's simply out of stubbornness and stupidity that we don't. I, for one, plan on raising my kid to be aware and conscientious about what's going on around him, thus helping to make the world a better place.

I want children...
I'm a caring, supportive and intelligent person. Trouble is, my girlfriend of 3 years said she never wants kids. This sucks so much. I love her, but i'm not going to smoke my way to infertility and waste my prime, I'm seriously considering sperm donation to spread my seed, although deep down I want to be a father. Yes I am a selfish gene, I don't want my genetic legacy to be annihilated and when Im 30/40 I know I will be craving the family experience soooo bad.

I'd really like to have kids someday, I realized last time I was tripping that it's actually really important to me. But I'm too young and there's a lot I need to accomplish still.

That's a good idea and all, raise your kids "the right way" and help them change the world.
But what will really happen is you try to raise them right, but the kid is broken by the system, then reports you to authorities for using illegal drugs and wins a medal
