Invitro Discoloration

After two months and a bunch of failed cakes, I finally have a cake that's doing well. Birthed around a week ago, I've been growing it invitro and within the last two days it's started pinning all over the place. However, two of the pins that are pressed up against the edge of the container have a blackish green discoloration in the area that is touching the edge. Is this just some sort of bruising or is it something to worry about?

Also, my last round of cakes only produced 2 pins, both of which aborted at about 1/2 inch in height. What steps can I take now to minimize the aborts on this cake? I'm fanning new air in a few times a day and opening once a day to wipe excess moisture off the inside of the container. Is this good? What else might I do?

The discoloration is completely normal with invitro. Dump out the verm layer to make more room. Make sure any holes have no tape on them. Don't let them go too long or they get nasty. Lots of aborts are also normal with invitro. Harvest the whole thing before they have a chance to rot.

Sounds like rotting aborts. But, as said before, could just be bruising.
