Pinkish/purplish LC

My LC started out just fine, but after I started shaking it up, I noticed it began taking on a pinkish-purplish tinge. I just spawned the LC to BRF and we'll see what happens, but does anyone know what might cause that?
Also, I sterilized two LC's with a single black screw in each, and inoculated them this morning with the last of my spore syringe. Does anyone have any thoughts on using metals for stirrers? Do the black screws and nails rust any less than the shiny ones?

Pink is a common bacterial contaminant. I call it "Pepto Pink". I collect different colored strains of bacteria and that was one of my first.
Toss it.

That's good ol' Pepto Pink alright. I doubt he's harmfull since he's very common, but he'll probably spoil your LC and jars.

whats your lid like?
if you're quite literally shaking, and you have filter material (micropore, polyfill, etc) that gets wet, bacteria grows right through it and sets up shop.
either come up with a better lid setup to keep any filter material from getting wet, or fill the jar half way and use more of a swirling motion so the filter doesn't get wet.

i stoped the problem by making it into qt. jars. Not the baby bottles.
haven't had a problem since.
i put a polyfill filter, with a self healing injector. Also used Light malt/Dextrose.
a magnetic stirer is used also. (best thing i have bought) but now with such good lc i have too many fully colonized jars i don't know what to do with??!?!

don't use black drywall screws either...they WILL rust...if your going to used something that is iron...make sure it is galvanized, that way it doest rust...or better yet, use something made of stainless steel or a marble (if you using a magnetic stirrer, then don't use SS becuase its not magnetic)
