My MDMA Cannabis And Mood Study
    #5924884 - 08/02/06 10:00 AM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Hello Shroomery.

I am studying the Graduate Diploma in Psychology at Staffordshire University.

For my Project I am running an online questionnaire that investigates the relationship between MDMA and/or Cannabis use and Mood.

To navigate to the survey please follow

http://www.staffs.ac.uk/schools/sciences/hsl/questionnaire/alex/index.php

or use

tinyurl.com/mhorr

There is a question at the beginning that asks

Where did you hear about the study?
to which you should reply shroomery or internet forum

Please feel free to send any friends you have to the survey or repost these links on other message boards etc, whether they are drug users or not as I need both users and non-users. And if you know anybody who uses MDMA but not cannabis, please drag them to my survey!

Any comments following completion of the survey are welcome in this thread.

All data is treated as confidential and will be destroyed after completion of the project. No IP or other info is taken from your computer.

Whenever I'm on MDMA and cannabis I can't figure out whether to make out with my munchies or pass out to some trance music.

Thank you zippoz.

I am surprised i have not posted here before actually.

I post at bluelight and i moderate the safer use of ecstasy forum and the psychedelics forum at dancesafe.org. So i am quite familiar with this site. Sometimes I have to direct posters here for specific mushroom queries.

While your efforts are admirable, web-based surveys carry very little weight.

Not trying to be overly critical, but this will be the case if you plan on publishing in a professional journal.

Sorry, just being honest.

Answered that honestly.. but its about ecstasy...I haven't done that shit in absolutely ages.

I'd be more interested in a study into psychedelics and mood because I've definately noticed a change in my personality since I started to use psychedelics properly, whereas nothing along these lines happened when I used mdma / cannabis (apart from becoming a lazy stoner heh.)

It's cool to see these kinds of studies. I have to say, all of the negative stuff in my life and whatnot is directly linked to hard drug abuse as well as dissatisfaction with my life. MDMA has been an incredibly positive addition to my life and helps me work through my issue....I just wish this study has a comments section so that I could explain that.

To try and answer a few of the comments. There are a few web based studies on mdma that have been published recently. Rodgers et al 2006 (j of Psychopharmacology) compared web based recruits and traditionally recruited p's, which is interesting.

OTOH, it is just my homework in a way, but i am gaining a lot from doing it.

I will come back and let you know the results.

I think if i were to be able to do further study in this area i would take more account of qualitative comments, maybe take a discourse analysis approach to people's experiences. I think that would be really interesting.

Surveys can be frustrating. I appreciate the responses i have got from here very much.

Thanks

While the survey was pretty much basic fare, I would be very interested to see the results. I too intend to study psychology in college (which I start in about 3 weeks). I think more work like this needs to be done, although the validity of an internet medium for polling does seem somewhat questionable.

The story goes, or the way that I was told
There was a king that always felt too high and then he fell too low
And so he called all the wise men to the hall
And begged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
But here’s the thing, they came back with a ring
It was simple and was plainly unbefitting of a king
Engraved in black, it had no front or back
But there were words around the band that said
Just know: This Too Shall Pass

Why is it questionable?

I found that there were no differences in anxiety between those who had used MDMA, Cannabis, Both or Neither within the last year.

That finding was sufficient for me to do my dissertation. I may do further analysis on some of the other polydrug data on the future: mine it to see if there is anything interesting.

I showed some naivete in the the design of the study, and i was not able to recruit as many people who had used mdma only to show differences between them and those who had used MDMA and cannabis. Any differences between groups were greatly outweighed by the differences within groups.

Thanks to those who contributed. I received a distinction for the course overall.
