i filled a gallon ziplock bag with a brf\water\perlite(couldnt find vermiculite) mixture. and i boiled it for an hour. then i let it cool and inoculated it. i hope it works, but the thing im concerned about is the air exchange. do i need to start doing that right away? should i poke a small hole in the bag? wouldnt that let in contams

A ziplock isn't going to be 100% airtight, so contams will almost certainly get in. If it were airtight, yep, no air exchange.
So, yeah. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Buy filter patch bags and try it again!

Im pretty much on the same page. Don't get your hopes up.
Try folding the bag at the top as well (at the seal) and secure it with maybe some paper clips or whatever. That will help make sure no air gets in.
As far as FAE, I suppose tyvek would work if you executed the application correctly.

im not familiar with tyvek? but, you two have left me somber. But i dont know, i did double bag them, and used double seal ziplock bags, i dont see how air can get in. it seems nice and clean, i've even thrown the ziplock into a large garbage bag. If this does work, it certainly would be a nice change from jars

ok here is what is happens. i used a ziplock freezer bag with the double zipper for added protection. next i added a thick layer of vermiculite (dry), horse manure (hydrated and pasteurized), then another layer of vermiculite (dry). the extra vermiculite is to keep the moisture under control. after you have sealed it, toke a small hole every inch in a diamond pattern and cover each hole after you poke it with micro-pore tape. spawn the ziplock bag with a live culture to make sure it grows fast. good luck hope this info helped a little.
