I have not cased before, I need a good dense crop. I have about 6 equador pf tek jars that will be 100% colonized in about 2-4 days. the rice cakes just aren't working too well yet. I want to due about 5 one cake casings with them. I am not familiar with casing at all beside what I have read. does anyone have any tips on substrate for ecquador casing? We were planning on using vermiculate underneath the broken up cakes, then put saran wrap on the top and let it colonize for a few days. That's basically all I know about casing. Does anyone think I should innovate, by sprinkling more brown rice flour, peat, oyster shells, or any of the other things that can be used for casing?
sorry about rambling on, I have alot of questions.

First time casing, go with damp verm only. Then try other
things, you may be back to verm pretty soon.
Cover with foil, and poke holes in it. I've had bad luck with
saran wrap for some reason. After 48 hours watch it close.
Overlay is when the whole top colonizes white where the
verm can't breathe. If there are a few even patches, take it
out. It matures just a little more after you pull it so allow a little
for it. Never sprinkly BRF on a casing unless you want mold.
All of this is my humble opinion. Hope that helps.
