Looks very promising, I going to say yes but I don't know what species (lucidum or tsugae?), and it looks like a nice conch formation too.

Looks like Ganoderma spp. Where did you find it in a conifer or deciduous tree? Here you have a pic so you can compare:

Definitely one of the ganodermas. Which one matters little as they're all medicinal. I suspect lucidum, but if it was on hemlock, it's likely tsugae, and if in the pacific northwest on douglas fir, it would be G oregonese, although oregonese is usually fatter. There are no poisonous polypores, so boil it into tea or use the broth from boiling to make soups or rice/pasta. RR

You could also clone it and try to cultivate it. I don´t know how barranca is said in english, pero en España lo llamamos HOCES. Siempre está bien que haya alguien que hable el castellano por estos foros aparte de mi, claro.

If it was on a deciduous tree in a warm climate, it is very likely G lucidum. If it's still fresh, the soft white tissue at the leading edge is what you want to clone. RR

....and...G. lucidum seems to be "vari-form" in the wild....I concur with the rabbit...

We make a broth by boiling it in with our steak, lamb and chicken bones, then use the broth for rice and noodles. There is no bitter taste whatsover if you do them that way, and you can have them with every meal. RR
