I found the shroom in the first pic right alongside some of the ones in the group shot. The coloring is similar, but the single shroom has a deeper color. No ring and the shape is all wrong. What is it guys?

Habitat: Very lightly wood area in a cow field
Gills: More sponge than gill
Stem: Tan, Hollow
Cap: Golden brown, 3" diameter
Spore print color: Sorry, no time
Bruising: No color change was observed.
Location: Picked in deep south Alabama

Welcome aboard the shroomery!
That said, it does look similar to my mushrooms from June which were recently identified by some of the pros on the forum as Ps. caerulipes.

No that would not be cubensis based on one thing that you said Gills: More sponge than gill If I am right you are describing the gills actually to be pores(looks like sponge). No active mushroom has pores they all have gills. Therefore this would not be a cube. Might be poisonus do not eat.

Thanks! Not sure if I'm ready for all that! Is a grammy supposed to be in cow fields picking shrooms?

At the time that I originally posted my photo, no gill description was covered.
So, if your mushroom had pores, then it definitely wasn't the same mushroom.

It's a cube that hasn't broken it's veil yet. This is the stage when they are most prime for harvesting. Also, I don't see much bruising on your mushrooms, what is the potency like?

I think LouiseLouise may be correct about that, but a picture of the underside of the cap would help to confirm it.
