That's just dumb. We can't even get our best tin cans to the moon and back without people dying every other trip. You wont be able to just go fuck off to somewhere else in space when the shit hits the fan here. If the Earth goes, you go too. Sorry.

Same theory, just slightly different interpretations.

Interesting idea. I don't know how they think they can nail the thing down to a specific date though. (2012)

Yeah and it's not like we have another planet in our solar system that would be more inhabitable than a cataclysmic earth.

I don't think the human race will ever make it outside of the solar system. Mars maybe but outside of the solar system is pretty fucking far. And I wonder how far the nearest planet is that could naturally sustain human beings. Makes you think.

I don't know either. I'm not really all that familiar with the evidence that leads to the year 2012. It's always intrigued me though.

DISCOVERY OF EARTH-LIKE PLANET ADVANCES SEARCH FOR LIFE IN SPACE

Two scientists at the School of Physics and Astronomy of the University of St Andrews, Scotland have played a crucial role in the discovery of a new planet which astronomers believe is the most Earth-like found to date.

The new planet, designated by the unglamorous identifier OGLE-2005- BLG-390Lb, has a mass five times that of Earth and is approximately 20,000 light years from us near the centre of the Milky Way where it orbits its parent star, a red dwarf some five times less massive than the Sun.

This is the closest earth-like planet. Only take 20,000 years traveling at light speed! Meet ya there. Yeah, we're stuck on earth...

Yes, but never forget, we're tadpoles that can take shrooms and stare into the cosmic eternity; not too shabby if you ask me.

Naw man,

Let's just do what our parents did:

Work as hard as we can to consume as much as possible while creating as much waste as we can and then cross our fingers and hope our kids can figure it out/clean up our mess!

Father knows best.

I can't stand the term "consumer". It makes it sound like if I like having nice shit that I'm a blinded fuckface that's never satisfied. I like having nice stereo, nice car, nice place to live, but I don't "consume" these things, I take care of them. The term "consumer" is so retarded.

But seriously, I agree with you relative.

There's nothing wrong with having goods, it is one's attitude towards their goods which can be beneficial or harmful to the person I believe.

Not to say you don't have a valid argument, but I have to agree here. I mean...not everything has to be significant and apocalyptic and shit. :undecided:

Ah, but what if the very manufacture, transport, or sale of the goods harms others/the environment?

Once the damage is done, why would it matter what the person who actually buys the stereo (for example) thinks?

Then in an absolutist sense, the one that made the actual harm made the harm. Sometimes we have no way of knowing what harm was caused in order to bring us even the most basic and essential of products. That is a symptom of being a part of "modern society".
