Puerto Rican strain question
    #5923187 - 08/01/06 09:02 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Does anyone know if puerto ricans exhibit the 'hollow stem' characteristic? I just picked a monster shroom, and although it still weighed over 60 grams, it was pretty hollow. Just want to make sure it isnt my water delivery or humidity acting up.

Not in PR per se, but it's genetic, not environmental. Some substrains are hollow, some are solid. It's the nature of the beast when you do multispore inoculations.

Here is a grow of PR I did. All stems were solid and weighed in just over 6 lbs. wet.

I find RR to be correct here.
density of the stipe is a characteristic that is on my isolate checklist.
along with colonization speed and vigor,
size and speed of fruitbody development,
potency,
and all of that good stuff.

If you start with cloning, clone a fruit with a solid stipe.

One of my faverite strains. I've never noticed especially hallow stems but I do notice the stems tend to be a bit smaller then other strains I've worked with. Might just be my experience though.
