Casing with a top layer of wheat straw works very good, or using plain moist peatmoss with some hydrated lime.:)bluhoney

These are PESA grown with Compost and cased with Chopped pasturized wheatstraw with about a 1/4 inch peatmoss covering( just enough to cover the straw). The substrate was birdseed and verm, used to spawn the homemade compost. One important thing with just a wheat straw casing is to keep it moist, it will dry out easily.:)bluhoney

My friend does indeed. By putting it in a baking pan and covering with aluminum foil, it is then baked in the oven on 325 degrees for 1and 1/2 hours. Then its cooled. Before all this she mixes in about 10 cups of peat to 1 cup of hydrated lime as a ph buffer. bluhoney

One time should be enough to clean the casing stantheman, but if you keep extra left over casing lying around, dont use it again if there is a long time between casings, or pasturize it agin.:)bluhoney
