Went to a herbal shop near town. Any cen tex folks PM, cause the store rocks!!! They traded me four 12 inch P. Viridis for two T.Per, a T Matrogonius (SP), and 40 grams of Aminita Muscaria. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Quick question, does the T.Matgoungus have the same properties as torch (the guy said they had the same good stuff in em) and pedro? I grafted a cutting of the torch to a mirtillo cactus. Also does a button cactus (false peyote) have the same properties as the others? They had tons of them, and he smiled when I asked about them.

Trichocereus macrogonus does indeed have mescaline, so yes, it's got the same properties as other trichocereus species.

To my knowledge Loph. Will. is the only button cactus with mescaline.

There are whole range of false peyotes or cacti similar in appearance to Lophophora (button) which are considered, by at least some natives, to be peyote & used, with varying degrees of effectiveness, in rituals, etc. Lophophora is to my knowledge the only button cacti to contain mescaline.

An interesting list of false peyotes & other cacti used for psychoactive purposes is contained in "Narcotic and Hallucinogenic Cacti of the New World" by Michael S. Smith. You can find it at http://entheogen.netfirms.com/articles/articles/Narcotic_Cacti.html
