Cactus fest!
    #5922162 - 08/01/06 03:12 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Alright..a town about 15 minutes from me has this annual cactus festival, I've never been so I don't really know what its all about. What kind of cactus am I looking for exactly and how do I tell them apart from others? I know more or less what a lophorawilliamsi and san pedros look like, but I know there are dozens of active cactus out there. Peyote is legal in Canada, maybe I'll get lucky.

If you're purely looking for psychoactive cacti try the link I left in the thread "cool trade!!! Quick questions."

One thing you should watch out for is that many cacti growers will now refer to Trichocereus as Echinopsis (though many still won't) as this is the new classification for the genus. As a result some of the names have changed completely eg Trichocereus Bridgesii is now officially Echinopsis lageniformis. If in doubt I would ask the exhibitors.
