Come on...fess up. Who has an imaginary friend that they have conversations with in their head?
I have several. (except I don't think they're imaginary)

OH, I get it. You all have *REAL* friends. I see.
At least I'm my own best company.

I don't have imaginary friends. The only thing in my head making noise is my inner dialogue.

My girlfriend does.. I've talked to myself a lot in the past, but for some reason I can never come up with an imaginary friend.

I have one.
I don't see him and I know he's not there. But we have conversations in my head back and forth often discussing important matters in my life.
He's quite helpful. Sometimes he won't shut the fuck up tho.

Yeah.. well some people really do have legit problems with people talking to them and not shutting up. It's not even really an uncommon problem.
It used to happen to my girlfriend, so she was put on some medicine to help get rid of it. They were really bothering her to the point where she was miserable and wanted to go away.
Her shrink says it's bipolar and schizophrenia.

Hmm...what if you enjoy the constant chatter?
Well, I've dealt with it. I knew I had people in me since I was 12. My shrinks have never believed me, just gave me mental illness tags.
But they're there. I love them so much.

Like...to describe it...it's like they are sooo individual and their own people. They get offended if I think we're the same person. We're not...they just communicate with me from wherever they are. (my body/mind is a portal of access)

Oh it's not that bad....
I am bipolar and some other shrink said borderline. They basically throw some new shit at me all the time.
I'm sorry to hear it's that bad for her .
When I was younger it used to be kind of irritating. But I kind of learned to just be friends with "him" and I have some awesome times just talkin to him inside my head. When there's something important, he shuts up.
Has she tried befriending the voice? I know it sounds odd, but I think everything can be controlled to some degree.

It's a good thing if you enjoy it I suppose. I wouldn't even call it a "problem" if that is the case. Not trying to be like the shrinks and give out "labels".. that stuff is lame. So what I said was not hinting towards you - just sharing similar experience that I have observed and been around.
In my gf's case, she tells me that they are people communicating with her via "esp" or telepathy. With her they always seem to say negative things and have bothered her into all hours of the night, preventing her form sleeping and functioning normally.

I've already slipped down the slope when I decided to remove my breasts to "be" more like a particular person in me.
But then I was tripping on shrooms and WHAM. He told me how greatly offended he would be if I tried to steal his individuality from him. It was a very powerful message that I couldn't ignore.
I won't make that mistake again.

I believe i have real friends, but people have been telling me I'm insane, so I'm not sure which are real or not. Are my friends real, or are the ones telling me I'm insane real? Which ones are in my head? Is my head telling me i'm insane, but I just don't know it, while my friends are real, and just unaware? or what I'm lost.

How sad...I have a shadow who used to do the same thing. Two of them, actually. One sabotages me every chance she gets. And tries to frame another person inside of me, who is largely, innocent (just bestial and feral). Velkess is the one I worry about. She is lovingly evil. And vicious. When she comes out, things get nasty.

Oh I took no offense eris. I just hate to hear about people suffering from mental problems cause I had my share which almost lead to me not seeing my 16th birthday (just turned 20 two days ago ) .
Mine used to be negative as well. Theyd tell me certain people were after me and how I wasn't much of anything. Suddenly I told it to stfu or be nice in a way (I know this sounds odd ...but it's true).
And now it's really like my own pal in my head that comes over when I want him to.
He even guides my trips.....
The mind is a strange place ain't it?
best of luck to your gf. I sincerly hope she is doing well.

nope... no imaginary friends for me... i used to get these eerie voices once in a while, i could never understand them but they had a powerfull intention which would freak me out because i didn't understand it...
and sometimes i get these single words or short sentences that don't seem to emenate from "me" but i never attributed a personalety or had a relashionship with them
