From CNN:
"HAVANA, Cuba (CNN) -- Cuban President Fidel Castro was undergoing intestinal surgery and provisionally handed over power in the Communist island nation to his brother Raul, according to a statement read on Cuban television Monday night."
There isn't much of a news report yet, so this is all I got. Any thoughts?

He's probably dead and the communist liars are spinning it until the succession of power is established so they can keep the boot on the people.
You should see the partying in the streets tonight in Miami. It's like Mardi Gras Cuban style.

Hmmm, watching a communist dictatorship end could be a good thing. The sad thing is Cuba will next be devoured by a capitalist dictatorship. What's worst, be dictated by someone or be dictated by something ?

A friend of mine said it was either that, or Castro is faking it. I'm guessing he's dead and the govt is trying to secure a transition

Carter Downplays Castro Succession Rumors
by Scott Ott
(2006-08-01) — Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today downplayed rumors that he’s on “the short list” of potential replacements if surgery fails to restore the health of ailing Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
Mr. Carter dismissed as “mere coincidence” that his Op-Ed piece critical of the Bush administration’s foreign policy appeared in The Washington Post the same day that news broke of Mr. Castro’s surgery and temporary transfer of power to his brother Raoul.
But an unnamed source close to the icon of progressive social policy said, “no one in Cuba has the necessary charisma to fill Fidel’s shoes, and no one in the world has demonstrated a greater affinity for Castro’s vision of a progressive social order coupled with a consistent record of working to diminish U.S. power and influence abroad.”
