Fruiting non-fully colonized casing

I was in a rush to get some shrooms on me before my summer vacation. I have 3 weeks until I go and the casing were just spawned afew days ago. I am worried this wont be enough time so I was thinking about taking a shortcut.
If I wait a week and a half, and the substrate is only 50% colonized, would it be possible to fruit early and still be able to harvest some good shroomies? Id rather having shitty yeilds early, then massive yeilds after my vacation is over.
Can it be done, remeber I care little about second flushes and optimal yields, I just want to get about an ounce. What if only the top layer is colonized and the bottom is not?
Thanks, I wish Id have more time... But Id need to have my shroomies on the vacation or else it wont be a vacation, not in my book.

The casing doesnt need to colonize completely - as soon as some myc pokes through you can put in the fruiting chamber.
I am a little confused though....at one point you say casing and in another you say substrate. If its substrate you're talking about, i wouldnt attempt any shourtcuts or you're likely to get no yield.

Substrate should be at this stage.
After a casing cover is added, you can expose to fruiting conditions immediately. Most wait until myc is showing on the casing cover, before exposure to pinning triggers.
Trying to fruit a partially colonized substrate, is NOT a wise idea.

Yea... I didnt think its wise. And no, I don't mean casing as in casing layer.
I was gonna wait til the h/poo was almost fully colonized, but fruit it anyways because Im in a rush. Its an all or nothing thing, so I have nothing to lose and I probably fruit early (only if I have too).
People say its not a good idea, and I fully understand why. But has anyone actually done it? If not, Ill be the first and Ill let you know how it came out.
One more thing. If the top is 100% colonized, and you assume the bottom isn't. Would fruiting still be a bad idea?

Once the top is 100%. I give then a few more days, for the inner parts to catch up.

I wouldn't recommend it, but I've been able to do it successfully. So, I think it can be done if you carefully cut away the uncolonized parts. That's what I did and I didn't get any contams in the casing.

Update:
Well it turns out that I didn't have to fruit early afterall. The container is about 95% done and Im gonna let it sit for two more days and then fruit. The top is white, not bright white, but close. It has a little brown tint to it still. But I'm gonna go ahead.
You think in 10 days I can pin, fruit, harvest, and dry? I don't... but I'm gonna try anyways.
Wish me luck, I'll let you know how it turns out.

I've done it once. I had about 5 pf jars that stalled about half way through and just sat there. I had to move in a few weeks, so I took them, cut off the uncolonized substrate, and crumbled up the cakes. Then I cased with verm/coir.
I got a few "meh" flushes, but nothing to write home about.
