Update: Found another giant one as big as my foot :smile: not special but there pretty

Its amazing how big these lawn mushrooms get (i dont know there official name) but take a look :smile:

That's some sort of Lepiota or Chlorophyllum species.

Sure is big.

yeah In oklahoma i find like 3 or 4 of those after every rain in my neighboors front yard
and if i go through a cow field after a rain they are everywhere and way bigger
but i never find the ones im looking for

Chlorophyllum molybdites.. Nasty Ol Green Gills.. Not one for chowing down on but they do photograph well.. Nice Pics!

there are some GIGANTIC mushrooms growing on Memorial westbound before Shepard. You can see them from the road pretty clearly. Big 8 to 12" flying saucer shaped caps, short stems, soft and mushy feeling.

Also, there are some taller white Amanita looking ones there too, with powdery caps and white gills, but they could be Chlorophyllum. Now that I think about it, they probably are. But the others definitely aren't. I have no idea what they are. I should have taken pics and brought one home for a spore print, but I didn't want to mess with it. The mushy flesh kinda creeped me out.

I can't see the photos in IE or firefox, but the "powdery" cap is consistent with Chlorophyllum.... one of the characteristics that makes these prime for kicking. But you'll want to wash off your shoes afterwards.

The post i made was from last year it got dug up thats all it was an ol green gills mushroom it was massive though
