12 quart h/poo compost tray colonized solid, + a day or 2. Picture is slightly distorted, as the tray is covered with cling wrap. Whiter spots, is actually a glisten, from dew like moisture.
Time to case the babies. That is not a question.

Only a week old. I would rather let them colonize a day or 2 extra. Rather than a day or 2 less. It seems, if you do so Myc has the mind set, "we got this phase done, lets get on with the next".
If a tray is not completely colonized. It could get mixed signals, trying to do 2 things, at once.
My guy advices, to add the casing cover. Then, allow a couple more days of incubation, prior to exposure to pinning triggers. He says, doing so gives it all time to adjust to the new agenda.

yup that's pretty standard procedure. I always check to make sure all sides are fully white, if they are i wait a day or two for the middle, add the casing layer, and then throw it in the fc as soon as i see a few patches of myc pop up. Works like a charm almost every time
