what does it mean (if anything) if i continually get bacterial contamination in PF jars, but no mold whatso ever? the jars were inoculated with honeywater LC pC'd at 15-17 psi for 15 minutes. jars themselves were BRV+Verm pC'd for 1 hour 15-17 psi. where could this bacteria be coming from?

The jar content is probably to moist. A spore syringe can carry bacteria. It does not thrive, if the jar moisture content is right. If they are to moist, you end up with a wet spot bloom.

Probably from your liquid culture. I would never consider using an LC without making a microscope slide to check for bacterial rods first. It only takes a few minutes. I also fail to see why so many folks are making LC's in the first place when only growing small amounts. You have to inoculate the LC, then wait for it to grow, then inoculate the jar of grains or brf, etc., doubling your risk of introducing contaminants. Why not just skip the LC step? Personally, I don't make them. RR

RR,
Many do not have a microscope, of that caliber.
I think the major part of why LC's are in use is the thrift factor. Many have not mastered printing caps, they harvested. Sure, they can print one. But, the odds are it is not clean. At least the first few attempts, until they get the hang of it.
Dirty prints result in dirty syringes. Using those unknowingly, tends to frustrate beginners.
You can make 2000ml of LC, beginning with 2 ml of a vendor spore syringe.
A 10 ml spore syringe can last you a year, using it that way.
I, myself tend to make far to much LC. Then, pour a lot of it down the drain.
My guy makes 2000/2500 ml spore solution bags.
Once made, he does an agar perti test of each. So, he knows the content is clean.
So, I have actual gallons of various strains of spore solution, at my fingertips. I still make LC's. Simply because of the colonization speed factor, over spore inoculation.
I'm not up to petri's yet. But, moving that direction.

when you move on to agar you will find that bacteria arent a major problem - they are much easier to isolate out than molds.

I think I might have a bacteria problem from using too much LC, thus throwing off my water content. My bad. Oops.
