so i've got this Nikon SLR,I sold to a friend that rides bikes.Hes put alot of money in it,but i still take nearly all the pictures of him and other riding/skating.
well we've traveled a few hundred miles the last few days doing the mini tour like thing and it's fucking hot as shit in Ga.
the camera/bag/lens',flashes,countless rolls..everything is in a big padded(and thus insulated)case..
and it's been in serious, serious, can't touch the camera heat many times over the past week or so...
you think the film is ruined?...I'm not sure how hot its been, but it's been nasty...
alot of these shots are real important(all the BMXers are about pro,and trying for sponsor type shit),and there's no way in fuck i can do all this driving and skating again, when i haven't stepped on a skateboard in quite a few years..

First what kind of camera is it, im guessing its an F series, and in that case im pretty sure it should have some sort of heat/cold proofing, at least i would think so, as national geographic uses F series cameras...
Anyways, it all depends how hott it gets, i've heard that the heat can cuase film fogging, low contrast, hue shifts etc. but i've also heard that people's cooked film comes out fine. If i were you, id maybe get a few bottles of water and freeze them, then put that in the camera bag to keep everything cool, it's not worth the risk.

heat can fuck with films, but not so much for modern camera film. They are designed to be reactive to light energy exclusively, not heat energy. This isn't written in stone, but I've never had a problem in the grand canyon in 120F+. The type of camera doesn't matter as much as the film, I only had a small point-and-shoot, not that it matters.

If i remember from my photo 101 classes the only time you really need to worry about heat is during the developing process. This would cause your negs to fog over and look like ass. If the temp is not hot enough to melt the acutal film you should be just fine.
I brought my canon SLR down to bonnaroo in 04, when it was not on my back it stayed in the back seat of our car. If you've been down to bonnaroo you know how hot it can be outside let alone the inside of a closed car with leather seats. My pictures came out beautifully.
