My eyes

I can pretty much always remember having this "condition" but it now seems to be getting worse. I'll try to describe it but it might be hard to put into words.
It looks almost as if I see little particles of dust superimposed over my vision, like they are deposited on my eye. They are relatively small compared to my field of vision and appear as clear stringy type particles that may spiral or clump or remain straitish. They appear to be superimposed on my vision and they move relative to my eye movements. If I move my eyes in one direction, the particles follow the path of my eye. The particles are not the same every day and they are in different location and number as the days change.
I don't think they are merely dust that has landed on my eye because after I rinse my eyes or shower they are still there. I think they must be inside of my eye.
Was just wondering if anybody knows what this all about or if they see this too. I told my friend about it but he doesn't experience them. If this sounds bad I can make an appointment with an eye doctor when I visit my parents in a week or so.

Yeah i know exactly what you're talking about.. I see those as well but not very often at all.. I always thought how it was strange that you could control the movement of it. I never thought to have it checked out since it never bothered me at all but if it happens all the time then it might be worth getting checked out..

It mostly bothers me when I'm reading, taking my focus off the book...and especially when I'm outside. Good to know it happens to somebody else (if its harmless that is ).

i know exactly what youre talking about also. they are especially noticiable on a sunny day if i look up into the sky. to me, they are germ or virus-like shapes..very stringy and spirally looking in appearance and as i shift my glance, they slowly follow. i actually asked my eye doc what this was at one time, and now i don't remember his response i do remember it being very normal though, so it's definitely nothing to worry about

sounds to me like floaters.
1) harmless and nothing to worry about 2) extremely common (even in those who havent tripped) 3) something you will get used to and eventually stop noticing, although i find it makes cloud watching a bit more interesting ;-) 4) i believe it is because of particles detaching themselves from the back of your eye, so its not "all in your head", it is a physical thing that you have become aware of

Thanks for the reassurance folks. Its good to know that this probably isn't the first step in a gradual road to blindness.

Yeah I think those are floaters.

LOL @ floaters
Anyway, I see em too, I always have, and they're fun to follow around if you have absolutely nothing else to do. Ever try to focus on one? It's like the closer you get the faster it moves .

I think it is caused by sun damage. People with blue eyes are more susceptible to them.

Yep, those are floaters. A lot of people have them. As I understand it's just dead cells floating in the aqueous fluid in your eyeballs. Nothing to worry about.

Very true. My entire family has blue or green eyes, and a few members have gotten these "floaters." I, myself, am very sensitive to sunlight. Even if the sun is hidden behind clouds I can barely keep my eyes open without sunglasses.

Ah floaters, what would I do without those assholes floating accross my eye jelly to ruin a perfect sunset. I got mine after a panic attack, if you have ever had a panic attack you will know your vision goes all gooey and things that are far away seem close. Perhaps the optical fucked upness detached some cells from my retina. I too have blue eyes and am very sensitive to sunlight, now that I think of it another blue eyed friend of mine has them too! I hear drinking lots of coffee or doing lots of cocaine can cause them, perhaps when you are jacked up on stimulant you are just more observant of the contents of your eyes. Is there any way to destroy them? Lazers?
