can i fruit casings outdoors?

I have some rye casings made that are ready to come out of the incubator and fruit. I live in ky, I was wondering if I put these casings in the shade on my front porch if they would be ok? It is quite humid here this time of year. So I was thinking i could sit them there and mist them instead of using a fruiting chamber. Any feedback from experience?

Take it out of the pan/container and place into a hole of the same size. Keep an eye out for slugs. Should work just fine.

Before they were grown indoors, they were grown outdoors.

inside you can control your parameters better. I doubt your area maintains an 85% humidity level.
yes, they will grow outside, but don't expect great results. I would think that you would be better off putting a monotub or something like that outside than an open-air cased substrate.
if I was going to do it, I would do this:
use wax paper to cover your casing layer with. crumble it up, flaten it back out, and place on the casing surface. change the wax paper every day or every other day, it gets soggy. each day or twice a day, lift the wax paper and lightly mist the casing layer with a misty mate or super fine mist sprayer. let the wind get transpiration going a bit and replace the wax paper. you may need a touch of tape to hold the wax paper in place, but don't secure it too well at all. when the pins come, they will push the wax paper up. once they are like an inch tall, I would do away with the wax paper and let them grow.
never thought of this before or heard of it either. Interested to see what you do and how it works. My suggestions could be crap, for I have no experience at all in this.

Better yet, just dump some unpasteurized horse manure into a hole in the ground in a shady spot, then empty your tray into that hole and mix it all together. Water it in with a hose and just walk away. Three weeks later, you'll have this. RR

Hi Roger!, why unpasteurized?

I would assume, because it is outside, and will be exposed to nature, and all nature has in it. Given that circumstance, the mycelium will fight off all it can, as it does in wild circumstance. So, pasteurizing it is an unnecessary step.
RR makes that look easy. It can be, if you have the right spot, right temperatures, moisture, and Rh environment. Not to mention, a slug, mice, rodent pest free area. Or, take measures to control them.

Mushrooms grew in the wild before we grew them indoors. Just toss them in the ground and they'll grow natually.
